    Windows media player gone?

Just installed 18298 and noticed there is no WMP.
I can live without it, but in Network & sharing centre, there is no option I can find to turn on media streaming.
It could be turned on from WMP or Network and Sharing Centre previously.
Now my smart TV cannot see the computer.
    Am I missing something?

In 1809 it's an optional feature. It may just be that the default for 18298 is to turn it off. Does it appear in this list?

Thanks Bree, but that's my point. The Media Player is NOT available. Nor is it an option in Services.msc.
I don't really need WMP, but I do need to turn on Media Sharing, an option found in WMP and in Advanced Sharing Settings within Network and Sharing Centre in the Control Panel.
Nowhere can I find a way to Turn On Media Streaming.

I still have it but I did use Open with when choosing a video file then while it was showing on the Taskbar I right-clicked it and chose Pin to Taskbar.

In which build? The OP is specifically asking about the Insider build 18298.

Thanks for your replies, but I'm still not getting anywhere. I've updated to 18305.1003 and still no go. "Open with" does not give WMP as a choice, even drilling down to open all programs.
There is still a "Windows Media Player" folder under "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)" but the folders within are all empty. I guess they must be carry overs from previous versions.
It still "Media Streaming" i need so I can get all media files on my local harddrive onto the smart TV, as I can now with 1809 and all previous versions of Windows.

I actually turned off media streaming shortly after Windows 10 was released. I used to use it under Windows 7, but I switched over to casting to my Smart TV instead. That should work for you too while you try and sort out where WMP has disappeared to.

Thanks Bree. Yes, casting does work, and so does Tversity, a third party streaming application. I hope it just a temporary issue, but Windows does seem to be going backwards with each major update, dropping features we've had for many years.
We'll have to wait and see I guess.
