    Last try.

Let me see if I have this straight.

Suppose that I have an activated free upgrade. (Which I do.) I choose to receive insider builds (settings/updates/advanced). If I wish to stop receiving insider builds, it's sufficient to uncheck the box?

    That'd be nice.
It's not a checkbox, it's a button, but if you activated from a legitimate Windows 7 or 8.x, then yes. You can click the "stop insider builds" button and it will stay activated and not expire.

However, if you wait until the next set of Insider builds go out, you will no longer be in that situation, because insider builds will be beta builds that have hardcoded expiration dates. If you wait until after the new builds start, then you will have to re-install the RTM release if you decide to stop insider builds.

Also, where on DreamSpark can I find a 10 key? I already have a full, verified account.
You should have got a key when you downloaded the software. If you didn't, the key may be imbedded into the OS itself. And yes, I'm a DreamSpark user, though I access it through my school's store account.

Anyway check you download details to see if there's a key listed. I've not downloaded 10 from there yet, because I want to make sure it's the final version and not the beta version. However if it is the final version and has its own PID I'll get it.

    Aha. Makes sense now.

    Thanks.
