Actually, TC, I thought I was throwing out a request for general "what do you do and how" that would include 1809.xxx.

As has been brought out by a couple or three technical journalists, we Insiders "normally" get the "Release Candidate" awhile before it's shipped out to the general public for a final bug check. However, with 1809, Microsoft in their infinite wisdom decided to bypass us. Whoops!

I believe this is my first instance of a final Build going RTM and then being returned as an Insider Preview, so it's rather confusing, to say the least.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I'll bet Microsoft never bypasses the Insiders like this again, and that they'll be a little more careful from here . . . maybe, possibly, d'ya think? . . .

Those kinds of decisions aren't made by mere employees, Josey. They're made by those in the upper echelon, most likely Marketing.

Just a WAG, but what I think "may" have happened is that one of those higher echelon groups wanted to be able to brag and say, "Looky! We rolled out the October 2018 Update in jig time!

That happened with Windows ME and with Vista, even while the Beta Testers were saying, "It ain't ready yet!"

Then there was that guy who is actually gone, who decided Beta Testers weren't needed for Windows 8. Look how that turned out!
