    Windows Update 17735.1000 won't install - stays on 17723.1000

I go through the installation of 17735 in Windows Update and finally get a message "Requires a restart to finish installing". I run the restart (and it appears to execute properly) but on the desktop it says the build is still17723.rs5_release. I go back into Windows update and select "Check for updates" =17735.1000 comes up again and the installation process starts again ending with the Restart message.

When it Restarts again 17723 still shows on the desktop.

In the Update History I get multiple "Requires a restart to finish installing" depending on how many times I try to install 17735 it.
    Kinda of irritating

I appreciate it if someone might have a clue as to what's going on.

    Thanks.

Have you tried the latest 17741 yet? I just did both of my IP computers, no problems yet.

    Hub feedback

Thanks Berton. This problem has been going on for sometime. I submitted feedback in the Hub sometime ago. Others appear to have this problem but didn't see any reply from Microsoft.

I've had this problem on my Dell PCs since 17713 or thereabouts. One time, resetting WU did the trick and got things working again. A couple of other times, however, the only thing that worked was using UUPDump and UUPtoISO to create a bootable installer, and then to clean install the newer version on the target machine. Probably NOT what you wanted to hear, but that's what worked for me...

My 2 IP computers are a Dell OptiPlex 755 and a Dell Inspiron 530S [SFF], have only had an issue with the onboard Intel Express video/graphics adapter cured by using an ATI Radeon 2400 HD PCIe X16 card in both [salvaged from other computers], Full-profile in the 755 and Low-Profile in the 530S early in the Technical Preview before renaming to Insider Preview. Or in other words, I have only my time invested in rehabbing and using these 2 computers.

    Berton.
Glad to see you posting again so soon after your prostate operation.....obviously technology (micro surgery perhaps) has advanced somewhat since my knife and fork prostate operation which took place in 2003.

Thanks. My BPH was rather involved, too big for microtrophy. Outside of abdominal surgery and the coughing/sneezing hurting, not doing too bad, get the catheter out on the 30th. If I can stay off the narcotic pain killer and go with Ibuprofin I'll get to start driving.
