For some reason, I enable the Dark Theme but only half of the File Explorer gets dark.
I have tried changing the system color, switching it on/off. Nothing seems to work.
Any ideas? 🤔

Well, nobody suggested anything.
However, I found the solution myself. So here it is:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Personalization
- Click on Themes
- Choose "Windows"
- Re-apply your wallpaper. (optional, in case you aren't using the default one)

Your solution helped me to sort my issues with Dark mode somewhat. For me only the Default Windows Themes allow Dark mode to function as intended. If I use any previous saved Themepack (both areo and areolite) to install a Theme then it breaks Dark mode functionality.

I am running the newest version of windows 10. Version 1903 OS build 18362.175.
It is the newest May release.
When I enable dark mode, my File Explorer is dark with white font, everywhere except in the main window on the right, which has a dark background with dark, black font.
It is unreadable.
All other fonts and lettering and words in all sections are dark with light font.
I have been searching for a fix, waiting for an update to fix it.
I have come across some posts that say a registry edit is a possible fix but I am not prepared to mess around with my registry.
Has anyone else had this issue? Has anyone upgraded to the new version of Windows and NOT had this problem?

But if you look up at the ss from BlackScout, my file explorer is like that except all of the font in the larger file section is black on a black background. Unreadable. Every other part of File Explorer is a black background with white font. I'll get you an image in the morning.
I had this issue (when I upgraded) but the quick fix for me was to close explorer and in settings turn off dark mode for both windows and apps and turn them back on.
When I re opened explorer all was well. For some reason I had to turn off both then turn them back on.
pbcopter here is the screenshot of my file explorer in dark mode....
as you can see, the lettering and font is black on black in the file side of Explorer, when I open File Explorer directly from the link on my taskbar. But, I just noticed that when I opened File Explorer to navigate to this image to upload it to this forum, my Explorer did not have this same problem. It was dark mode, dark background, white lettering, and completely easy to read, and to see.
I wish I could find a fix to make it black backround, (dark mode) with visible white lettering on all aspects of File Explorer.
thomaseg1, I will try your fix , see if it works for me. But I have pretty much tried everything except for changing code in the registry.
Interesting. I switched to dark mode under 1808 when it first came out and never had any problems. I've recently upgraded to 1903 and also have not seen any of these issues.
