It still works on several of my fully-up-to-date Version 1803 Build 17134.191.
My version is Build 17733 - a lot more up-to-date than yours!

Wrong, different versions. I wrote about the latest RTM version and this mentions the IP/Insider Preview version which will always be a larger number for the Build. Have to keep in mind the versions, RTM vs. IP and IP has 3 possibles, Slow Ring, Fast Ring and Skip Ahead which will be a higher number than the other 2. There will always be issues with the IP versions [some major some minor] as they are Test/BETA versions. All this was made known, warned about, when signing up for them back about 4 years ago.

Yes, I know all of that! What I asked was why Microsoft removed the Status Bar and regardless of the several ways you can "enable" it, it won't come back!

    That's correct.
I have enabled it while in Explorer, also in File Explorer Options as well as the Explorer registry key but still no Status bar!
If I enable the Details Pane - View while in Explorer that adds another panel with an icon in it to Explorer on the righthand side of your screen that takes up 1/4 to 1/3 of your Explorer screen. That's far more screen than the old thin Status Bar along the bottom of screen.
