    Keyboard issues

    Hey guys,

The last two build updates I can’t input anything from the keyboard. But the lights still work on it. I have tried filter keys, drivers, different ports with no luck. To solve this I would roll back but now it seems the roll back is not working what’s so ever. I even had a windows tech remote in without any luck.

    Thanks

Hi Tanskije. Welcome to the TenForums @Tanskije

Please fill out your system specs.

Are you on V1803 or V1709

Is this a laptop or desktop?

Are you stuck on login page?

If connected on USB port have you disconnected / reconnected to a different port, preferably one on Motherboard backplate, USB 2.0

Open device manager, expand keyboard section, click on view, click on show hidden devices, right click and remove all keyboards. Restart.

On an aside, where did you find Windows tech?

Thanks for the reply Ken. After a day of struggle here are all the issues I find. Keyboard works in bios not in windows. I have to use the on screen keyboard. I have tried several keyboards, in all USB ports still nothing. The mouse works fine.

I can’t click on an application within the start menu. However I can click the settings. I always am unable to rollback or reset which helped when this problem occurred from the update.

Before I would get the update and lose my key board function and roll back to fix. I have tried hard resets, removing drivers, power shell cmds to repair, filter keys etc.

    Version 1803 17711.1000
    Desktop
    I7-6700k
    16gb
Alienware r3 not sure motherboard at this point.
    GeForce gtx 970

    Thanks

    Interesting.

With this many repairs / attempts it may be very difficult to ultimately resolve.

Were you able to get to device manager and delete all visible and hidden keyboards? (Right click start, device manager, ..... )

Can you create this recovery disk

Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk

The goal would be to boot from this disk and see if your keyboard becomes usable. (assuming keyboard allows you to get to boot menu)

Sounds like something is creating this issue, maybe a driver download. You say you rollback, it works and then fails.

Are you running a very complex software environment. I see you've done resets, what are your thoughts on a clean install?

Once over this hurdle would be worth exploring disk Imaging. We can discuss that later.
