    Defender definition 1.271.103.0 repeatedly installing.

Running insider version 17713.1000. The only issue I have is with this Defender definition. It just keeps on installing. Anyone else have this issue?

    Gort,

You could try installing the latest definitions manually then see if the problem reoccurs https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/definitions#manual

    Gort,

I used to use the downloadable definitions for convenience sometimes for computers that hardly ever connect to the internet [I was on a very tight monthly internet data allowance for a while so I updated them by downloading in my local library].

The only time I was really forced to use the downloadable definitions was shortly after I had removed a third-party AV {Bitdefender} [despite having used its specialist removal tool]. Whilst I then found Windows defender updated correctly afterwards, I did eventually discover other strange problems in areas that I decided were evidence of residual effects from that removed AV. I never solved those other problems and eventually performed a complete [clean] reinstallation of Windows 10. I mention this just in case the circumstances are similar.

Been down a similar road before, so much so I crowned myself the "King of clean installs".

    Gort.
