It doesn't have anything to do with the forum. Not directly anyway, Windows 10 Forums is an independent web site and has not been authorized, sponsored, or otherwise approved by Microsoft Corporation. Brink gives the badges to those that are MVP's as a curtesy type of thing. He has nothing to do with who gets awarded or not. My contributions here were a big part of me getting originally accepted as an MVP though. Here 8 and 7 forums. Its Microsoft that ultimately decides if you get the award or not. And you have to reapply every year to keep it.
There are some perks to being an MVP. A free Visual Studio Enterprise subscription for one thing. That gets you access to software and lets you get the required product codes to test it. Windows, Office, Windows Server, etc. And a nice trophy.

Congrats to all my once and former, current, and future colleagues. I see several folks active here at TF who'd be worth nominating for MVP. PM me if you'd like my thoughts on this...
    Best wishes,

Hi Brink. No. I did not get any notice. I was just surprised to find it in the mail this morning. :)
