Telemetry Issues....?
I've been running Insider Builds virtually since the beginning of Windows 10 with few real issues (at least few that weren't easily fixed or worked around). Recently, though (within the last week-ish) I noticed first that the Insider screen on settings said something to the effect of "Insider Build settings are being controlled by your Administrator." and everything was ghosted out. Assuming this was an effect of using my Office 365 account, I removed the access/link between this PC and my Exchange account, rebooted and....<sigh>...nothing. Still the same problem.
So then I did a little reading and changed the telemetry setting in the registry (local machine/software/microsoft/windows/datacollection/allowtelemetry) which was set to 0-Security Only)...by first removing the key, rebooting, then adding/setting it again to 0. When I rebooted, I thought maybe it was going to be fixed because almost immediately, I got a notification saying my Insider Account needed attention. At the insider settings menu I clicked "Fix Me" but nothing happened.
Next, I changed the telemetry to 3 and rebooted, same results. Essentially getting an error with my Insider Account but "Fix Me" doesn't work.
Last week my kid installed Ashampoo's Win Optimizer 15 (I think--could be wrong on the version) and tweaked a bunch of settings. Before I uninstalled the software I went through its history and undid all the changes it had reportedly made, then using Revo uninstaller, I got rid of it. I'm wondering, however, if something it tweaked isn't still causing my issue.
Anyone have any suggestions as to things I may look into or try changing before I resort first to System Restore and if that isn't successful the dreaded Clean Install? Attaching the screenshots of both the Insider Settings page and the "Fix Me" results.
