    Hi there
    @Wynona
@Plankton et al who don't like ms ads in the store

There might be somewhere on the web that version of "Install W7 classic games on W10" that you can install.

Otherwise I found using the Ubuntu interface on Windows I can download and install KPAT and run loads of the old solitaire card games -- particularly still like that old rescuer from Boring Meetings -- Spider Solitaire".

No ads - 100% Free and still fun works just like the old W7 one.

screen shot showing Linux 2 windowed applications running concurrently : Linux file browser accessing network drives and Ubuntu spider solitaire from KDE running on Windows using the Ubuntu / WSL subsystem.

I can't remember the link but I made a few posts on the Forum on how to how to run Ubuntu GUI / windowed applications from within Windows -- no VM needed etc.

Running on Windows 1709 W10 Pro X-64. I'm sure this stuff will still work on latest insider Windows too.

Just search on UBUNTU user jimbo45 or similar -- it was only a few days ago so search should be not to difficult.

    Found the Link

Mad prof strikes again GUI on UBUNTU in Windows (WSL) !!! Solved - Windows 10 Forums

    Cheers

For the record, it is just on sale - Spring 2018 SALE, any 2 for only $9.99!

Going to buy SolSuite + MahJong Suite - MahJong is great for elderly, like moms. :)

Running your own DNS server on a Raspberry Pi or in a VM would stop those ads.

GitHub - pi-hole/pi-hole: A black hole for Internet advertisements

Some routers with aftermarket firmware are also able to stop this.
Tried it and when Solitaire gets to the point where the ad should load, Solitaire closes itself. From the logs it looks like there are about 40 addresses accessed when Solitaire loads. Yikes!

Wonder if you can load those addresses into 'Restricted Sites'?

The ad I'm finding most annoying is the use Microsoft Edge ads I receive from all the Microsoft sites (I use outlook.com for my email). Even though I click no thanks, they reappear. Ugh!

Not only that, Eric, but when I make Firefox my default browser, Windows tries to convince me to stay with Edge! If I wanted to stay with Edge, I wouldn't have made FF my default! C'mon, Microsoft!

Wasn't this what got them in trouble in the European Union a long time ago?

I prefer Google Chrome. I don't want constant reminders about how much better Edge is. If Edge supported profiles, I would consider using it. Until then, Microsoft is just annoying me.
