    Remove windows.old folder.

I am on 17133.1 via just fixes, apps, and drivers. Did not see a release preview option. Any here I am checking things out, and then I find out there is a widows.old folder. I have tried in the past to delete it using various methods, but to no avail. If this the version to become RTM why would it create this folder. If someone knows a sure fire way to delete it, I am open to all suggestions. BTW I already tried using windows built in cleaner.

    Hello Gort, :)

You might see if any of the options in the tutorial below may help to delete the Windows.old folder. Usually Option 3 to delete it in a command prompt at boot from USB will when all else fails.

Brink, I went from step 2 to 3, and then step 1. Windows.old is gone. As always linking this to my Tutorials folder in Google Chrome. Thanks for your help.

This is a simple fix, but now it all depends on what you have left in your Windows.old folder. I suspect it's the Edge LocalState folder that got stuck and needs to be deleted using the old DOS filename (short name).

Could you please run this in Elevated CMD and attach the file here after checking it does not contain anything you don't wanna share? It only lists directories and possibly your user profile directory name.
    Code:
    dir /s /ad /b /x C:\Windows.old > %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\winold.txt
The text-file you find on your desktop.
