I just restored my machine back to the beginning of November. I then checked Windows Update and KB4048955 was no longer offered. Instead, MS Update offered the new KB4051963 update and this update installed properly. Since it is a cumulative update, I no longer need to fight with KB4048955 and my system is up to date again.

Thanks for pointing that out. That additional update was stealthily installed on my P.C. as well. Will do some Googling to see what it's all about. Boy...I'm gonna miss the "Control Panel" when it's eventually removed from Windows 10.

Just installed on both machines very quickly, 10 to 14 minutes max, I am at build 16299.98, but I still see this "amd64-based systems" thing. Is that the new norm?

I was not really talking about new features but the fact that none of the commonly reported issues had been tackled that have been fixed in Insider eg auto restarting of apps, English GB standard keyboard (and many other languages) not available, raid volumes not being visible etc.

No it is simply MS complying with an agreement that updates are shown to be for amd as well as for Intel. Just a naming convention, nothing else.

I turned my PC on this morning to see this update completing the install but on checking the updates to see what had installed I was prompted to restart my PC to complete the same cumulative update. Never had this happen before but the install completed without issues. I also noticed that the Other section in Updates now no longer shows failed Windows Apps updates, something I always found odd before (it seemed to start with the Fall Creators Update).

Talking of strange, I find it amusing that Microsoft are putting so much effort into fixing issues with Internet Explorer 11. I have never used it since updating to Windows 10, preferring to use Edge or Chrome. I can understand supporting it on Windows 8 and earlier but I’d be surprised if anyone on Windows 10 is using it as it a poor browser in my opinion here in 2017.

So does anyone here actually use it?
