    I turned my PC on this morning to see this update completing the install but on checking the updates to see what had installed I was prompted to restart my PC to complete the same cumulative update. Never had this happen before but the install completed without issues. I also noticed that the Other section in Updates now no longer shows failed Windows Apps updates, something I always found odd before (it seemed to start with the Fall Creators Update).

    Talking of strange, I find it amusing that Microsoft are putting so much effort into fixing issues with Internet Explorer 11. I have never used it since updating to Windows 10, preferring to use Edge or Chrome. I can understand supporting it on Windows 8 and earlier but I’d be surprised if anyone on Windows 10 is using it as it a poor browser in my opinion here in 2017.

    So does anyone here actually use it?
    It's not that long ago (after the w10 launch) that some Microsoft sites needed it to function properly.

    Yes, I still use it - I have some sites that use Silverlight. Edge & Chrome do not support it, IE11 still does.

    It appears this update is classed as a 'Feature Update'.

    I have Feature Updates deferred for 28 days and Quality Updates deferred for 7. A manual update check showed nothing available and so I set Quality to zero days and ran a new check. Still nothing. Rebooted and still nothing on a manual check. Setting Feature Updates to zero immediately showed the update available on a manual scan.

    Finally, I have got my first update installed. I had damaged certificates, upon recreating them, it went smoothly. :)

    I sure do, find Edge lacking a lot, Chrome not much better, I'll stick with IE 11 even with all these issues, really hoping for IE 12 and leave the Edge thing for tablets and phones.

    Went quite smoothly on all half-dozen of my Win10 PCs. No issues with reboot phase after restart, thank goodness. Fair amount of post-install cleanup through Disk Cleanup (Admin): close to 4 GB of updates and old Windows installs removed.

    {Note added after cleanup check: looks like that size applies to only one of my PCs. The rest cleaned up about 500-600 MB of stuff. I'm thinking I had an incomplete cleanup on the one machine after the 1709 upgrade went through...}

    I use IE when everything else fails. It works. It is the only browser that will allow me to view my security cameras.

    There's supposed to be a way to turn that off from build 17040 on...

    Has anyone seen that since the update the Cortana screen has changed when you click in the search now box? Before it would immediately show you things like weather , news etc. Now annoyingly it shows search tips or something like that in first click and to get to your usefully set items like weather and news you have to click something like more items here or scroll on the mouse to reveal that screen. Kind of hard to explain. Seems a baffling change
