    I hear what you're saying, Josey. If my hunch is true, it has nothing to do with a provider. I'm sure you know State vs Feds. Perhaps some states told the Feds that their rules are too strict and the Feds eased them up. Perhaps Illinois honors the original strict rules. I have no idea. All's I'm saying is that I never get these types of calls. That's all I know.
    All I can say is that this Do Not Call List worked just fine up until 2008. If you read through this thread you will find that I am not the only one that is still getting these calls. It is a fact that AT&T has to follow Federal law. It has nothing to do at all with the carrier but who is in control of The FTC.

    I don't use a phone!
    My (bundled) land line ringer is off, my cell phone blocks all calls;
    I communicate exclusively by texting!

    Ok then what happened in 2008 that changed things? Perhaps the laxation of the rules? I haven’t been on that site in years, so I didn’t know that they were changed. BTW, George W. Bush was in office then. The Commissioner of the US FTC then was this guy: J. Thomas Rosch - Wikipedia. Perhaps they are the culprits.

    Umm, err, I started the thread, so I’ve read every post. I also started the Do Not Call subject in answering Anak’s post and read everyone since.

    Everyone needs to follow federal law, even if we don’t agree with them. They have the badges and guns. Again, looks to me like they have laxed the rules.

    Josey, I have no argument with you. In fact, I agree with you in that the FTC is not doing their job, for if we signed up for Do Not Call, then by all means we should not get them. And again, all I know is I don’t get them for whatever reason unbeknownst to me.

    I think I did, but I vaguely remember when I signed up if I did or needed to do this > Everyone needs to answer to the followup email after signing up to the Do Not Call as per this page at the bottom: Illinois Attorney General - Junk Mail and Telemarketing Calls

    I just cannot fathom why US citizens have let this vandalism happen.

    Wasn't there a poll showing that over 80% of 'mericans was in favor of net neutrality?

    Every one does not follow federal law. An election happened in 2008. To say anything further would not be following the forum rules. So I will just leave it at that. I am a former employee of AT&T and I know what they do and do not do.

    Laws/Regulations do nothing, unless there are agents/officers to ensure compliance and they actually strictly enforce them.

    Passing new laws/regulations costs "little", but enforcing them is an ongoing cost that takes lots of money.

    How many police would there be "on the beat", if they were paid the minimum wage?
