I am on build 17046 Slow ring. Suddenly, with no changes on my end, I am getting repeated messages stating ...

"Windows Insider program settings have been reverted. We did this because you selected skip ahead but skip ahead is now closed"

I never selected skip ahead. I see multiple reports of this problem in the Feedback Hub.
This started for me yesterday evening. Every now and then I will get this

Laptop has been on now about four hours, have got it four or five times already today. Any changes made in Insider settings will be ignored, can't select Slow ring or set Insider level to Just send me early updates. Settings will be all the time reverted to The next version of Windows > Fast ring.

I got that reverting insiders message on my laptop several times and I never did select the skip ahead version. Strange.

I think it's just a blanket statement they sent out, to cover their situation. I also never selected skip ahead, and it's on my computers as well. No worries, just part of the process.

Do not worry about this false skip ahead note appearing.....so long as it does not attract mushroom growth enhancing material....or cause multiple computers to spontaneously combust.

In my opinion, there's reason to be a bit worried. The fact is that those getting this notification cannot choose anything else than The next version of Windows > Fast Ring.

Trying to select Slow Ring, or select Just send me early updates, or trying to leave / pause Insider builds will always be reverted to The next version of Windows > Fast Ring.

True but it will probably sort itself out.

Those on slow ring are behind anyway and not getting this issue. Those on Fast Ring are ahead so those trying to move to Slow Ring are only ones affected really.

Assuming issue gets fixed at next build, the worst that will happen is if a slow Ring version is issued at 17046 and user has upgraded beyond 17046, and has to wait until next Slow Ring version.

Of course if issue is not fixed.......

Sorry but this issue seems to be caused by a Defender Update and has nothing to do with build 17046 as it also appears for those using current Slow Ring build 17025.

Why everyone does not have this issue, why it only affects some but not all users is unclear but the issue has been upvoted already a couple of hundred times so I would say it really is an issue to be a bit worried about.

@Kari, out of curiosity, you say a Defender Update.... Is it the Antimalware new version I posted about yesterday? Probably not, just coincidence.
