I'll be darn, @Kari. I'm sitting here using 17046 (waiting in hopes of a build) with my O365 Outlook minimized and working in some Word files when all of a sudden Outlook shut down and restarted. So did both Word files. Luckily Word recovered the doc I was working on.

Come on Dona and team! Christmas is coming.

Did Explorer crash, too, directly after Outlook / Word crash?

It happened so fast, but no, I don't think so for that doesn't show up in Reliabilty History or Events. It started with Runtime Broker, then domino-ed as seen below. This is a poor showing of a build as anyone can see. Looks like a Christmas tree. Every time I shut down or reboot, which I have to reboot to get a full Start screen, it shows that it wasn't shut down properly. However, for the most part it is stable. First time this has happened.

Just realised it may be because I have pending updates but they’ve been paused temporarily until the next build is ready

“In the interim, we’ve paused build availability to prevent user machines from needlessly downloading and failing the build install.”

That's for the build update, not definition updates. I received mine today. Your definition updates don't install at all?

I think they are installing, (though I could be wrong) this is the third one I’ve had today and the last numbers are all different.
Plus after the definition updates the red exclamation mark disappears.

Just checked windows update trouble-shooter and its saying there is pending updates

Yes, the red exclamation disappears after install. They are installing if you're getting them from history, yes? You can probably ping that update server every hour and get a definition update. They are not only adding definitions to the file, but also fixing bugs, so yes, the file number will change. Perform the troubleshooter right after an update and see what happens.

Check your Reliability History to see if they are being logged as successfully installed. Just follow the path/steps underlined at the top in this pic.
