This is REALLY curious. Here's the listing on my wife's machine on which I installed Build 17025.

    Directory of C:\Windows\System32

    12/21/2016 10:54 PM 51,120 ambakdrv.sys
    12/21/2016 10:52 PM 171,952 ammntdrv.sys
    09/01/2017 06:12 PM 38,320 amwrtdrv.sys
    10/21/2017 08:17 AM 471,552 win32k.sys
    10/21/2017 08:17 AM 2,052,608 win32kbase.sys
    10/21/2017 08:17 AM 3,616,256 win32kfull.sys
    6 File(s) 6,401,808 bytes
    0 Dir(s) 764,724,625,408 bytes free

ID:	167978This is a Windows XP VM I made for my wife a long time ago. She still has some programs that she needs to run here (I'm actually updating it to new VMware Tools and .NET framework 2 or something - I actually don't bother looking. But I guess there never were quite as many .sys files as I remember!

Geeks, if you want to list all SYS files in Windows\System32 folder, remember that most of them (in fact almost all of them) are in various subfolders. You must include subfolders in DIR command with switch /s to include those in listing:

    dir /s *.sys

This finds 865 SYS files on my laptop. Without subfolder switch DIR command only shows content of current folder.

Alternatively, open File Explorer, browse to Windows\System32 and search for files with extension sys with ext:sys.

It must be related to what you're doing at the time? I have six.

Other programs may also place their .sys files there, this one of mine (ampa.sys) came with Aomei Partition Assistant.

Sorry, Marty. It got late last night after getting distracted chasing a Chinaman about a warrantee on a phone.

Navigating to C:\Windows\System32 and using *.sys I have a slew of system files. Notice the page slide bar at the right.

To be sure > Do you all have FE set to show hidden system files? I'm thinking you must if you have any that show up.

Could be your FE search is corrupt?

Edit: Never mind. I just saw and realized you all are searching via command. Yes, another cup of coffee please.
