Trying to make ISO from 2/3 VMs. The third has too little disk space and was trashed. One is from windows.old which looks to work as well as the one before reboot - but it is a very slow process in a VM.
Are you using Hyper-V. If so, all you need to do is attach vhd as a drive in Host, and run uuptoiso from Host - much faster than running uuptoiso in VM

Also, temporarily tuning off defender speeds things up.

Finally, have you tried the new uup dump method. You can download uup files from MS direct and it is very fast. See a video I created.

Why disable Windows Defender each time you run UUPtoISO when you can configure it to exclude the UUP folder and all related processes?

    ...just a thought ;-)

You can do that as well, but it is just easier to tell somebody "turn defender off" rather than saying "get directory path in clipboard or write it down, go to defender, select option xyx, do abc blah bah".

My experience if you say something simple, most users work it out - pretty obvious how to turn off defender.

Moment it is more complicated, unless you provide a tutorial or video, many users comeback with a load more questions. Sometimes the KISS principle is just best policy.

I finally managed to get my desktop and laptop updated to Build 17046. First try on my desktop was with UUP Dump. Download was very fast. Made the ISO with UUPtoISO. Then I mounted the ISO and ran setup. Everything was going great until it came time to do the restart. The computer green screened with the Memory Managent error. The computer rebooted back to the boot screen. Every time I tried starting Windows I kept getting a message about not being able to install the upgrade and to run setup again. I had to use my Macrium image to get back into build 17040. The second try was with the Windows update. It took over four hours to finally get to the stage to reboot. Rebooted and got the green screen error again. Unlike the last time I was able to get back into Windows. Then I tried holding the shift key when rebooting. I got the spinning circles for a couple of minutes before finally getting the installing screen. When the computer got to the desktop the install worked. I also had trouble getting my wireless card working. On my laptop I decided to use the Windows update. When I restarted the laptop I got the same green screen crash as the desktop. Unlike the desktop the laptop loaded into Windows but without doing the update. Tried again by holding the shift key when restarting. The laptop restarted and did the upgrade without any problems. I would really like to find out what is causing my green screen crashes when I restart or shutdown my desktop and laptop. I was hoping that this build would fix the problem.

    True!

I think the UUPtoISO tutorial could have this basic information added. Even MS recommends disabling any AV when working with DISM and similar tools. Usually one would run such commands on a technician PC, where AV is disabled altogether. There is a lot that can go wrong on a "non-clean" instance of Windows. :)

    An anecdote.
A man arrives in a strange country, taking a taxi for what should be a ten minute drive, the taxi driver says "leave it to me".
    Two hours later..............

Reading some of these posts gave rise to my imagination.

Need to find out if the following problem has been caused by upgrading my GPU...if someone can test this it would be appreciated.

Opening Edge browser and choosing an article which is centrally located on screen, then click on Reading View, reverting back makes the article reduce in size and veer to the left....the more times you repeat this the further left the original article appears.....see attachments.
And this happens only in edge, not other apps or other browsers?

Thank you for asking.....as had been clarified by two previous replies confirming it was not an M$ fault....it was the new GPU, I no longer have this problem.
