    Hi,

the question i think is what are the signs of intrusion or what ever word you want to use how do you know if when you have been hacked by (?) what log or XML or what ever (can i ask cortana of this?) does Intel/Toshiba have a cortana? something in easy English.
Through MEI the machine can be attacked without its OS loaded or without it even being switched on.
The built-in micro-processor hardly draws any power though I've no idea what feeds it.

MEI can be altered to render it useless by modifying its microcode but it sure isn't easy.
Intel's planning on changing it in such a way that it can no longer be turned back to a vulnerable state. At least those are the plans.
Forgot where I read it though.....

All my machine also come with Intel's AMT which allows remote access even when it's turned off... Now that truely makes me feel very secure....

    Cheers,

Thanks mike. It's a bit of a beast compared to my old one. I'm really enjoying it.
    Hi,
Indeed looks like we upgraded out old systems pretty close to each other :)
I retired my old Acer mother board not quite 2 months ago with a x299 what a lot of fun that was

Now I'm not using my Z170 system any more(I have upgraded to 8700K and Z370), MSI has put out a BIOS up date to fix the issue on my old Z170 PC MATE mainboard:
    Description
    - Improve NVME compatibility.
    - Update micro code.
    - Improve USB 2.0 device can not work properly after resume from S3 mode.
    - Improve memory compatibility.
    - Update Intel ME for security vulnerabilities

Yesterday a good portion of the day, MSI was totally down(Maintenance? Updating the different downloads pages?), except for their forums, so if there are any MSI owners following this thread, take a look today.
