    Like you I had a similar problem when I was first learning how to use this tool. For me it was a path issue. After you download the zip file from Github, create a shorter folder name to extract too. Do not use the suggested folder. Avoid using spaces in the folder name. The goal here is to keep the overall path relatively short and simple. Doing this fixed all the download errors for me.
    Worked for me too - Thanks!

    Well, I now have 17040 on my amd device, and return of the "standard" touchscreen keyboard for en-gb at last.

    HOWEVER, the new keyboard size is totally ridiculous taking nearly 50% of the screen size. In part it is due to the setting icon being above the keyboard adding an extra 1cm to height. Yet there is bags of space either side of keyboard to place icon.

    Then I click on mini keyboard and it is too small to be of any practical use!

    HOW can the MS designers get it so badly wrong!

    People have complained on Hub,and I upvoted their feedback!

    Why does winver show no expiration date?

    Here's a Hyper-VM updated to 17040. Initially winver shows no expiration and I made a checkpoint. However the expiration stamp should show the 2018 expiration date reboot - we will see. In the meantime I'm enjoying this fantasy. Announcing Windows 10 Insider Fast+Skip Ahead Build 17040 for PC-windows-10-gen-1-build-17040-no-expiration.jpg

    Just being curious but why is it a fantasy?

    Becuase the expiration date will return on reboot. Try an upgrade to build 17040 and see for yourself. I run winver first thing. Announcing Windows 10 Insider Fast+Skip Ahead Build 17040 for PC-windows-10-gen-1-build-17040-expiration.jpg

    I Pass on trying another update so I can check to see if it has a expiration date or not. I'm more interested in what gets added, fixed or broken in future builds. :)

    I was just kidding. Although these upgrades are getting a bit easier for the time being. And a clean install of build 17040 with a local account goes quite fast.

    Still on track for Build 17045 for this coming week because the current canary was compiled Thurs

    @martyfelker

    No joy on the upgrade or the clean install!

    Thanks for your assistance though! :)

    Sorry to hear that, Edwin.

    Shut down the Asus, went to take a nap, and after booting up I had a Start screen with mostly blank tiles. Rebooted and all was fine. I experimented and shut it down again. Upon restart tiles were blank again. Rebooted and all was fine once again. Something upon cold start is happening. It's not hardware, for it doesn't happen on my FCU partition. I use mine full screen with "Show more tiles" options.
