is there a way to download the ISO for 17040.1000 to do a clean install on my Insider PC?
or can this be accomplished within the OS via the "Start Fresh" or other method?
I would like to try a clean slate with no APPs or traces of my old software and games

The Insider down load is offering 17025

Read posts from page 13. It shows how to basically create an iso using these two tools

Taking the "UUP Mini-server" discussion one step further, I've been futzing around with it ever since user LEOPEVA64 first posted about it, hoping to take advantage of the M$ servers on "my dime"rather than relying on their troublesome Windows Update downloads to get the files.

For most of the day, though...no luck! Even with all the wondrous helps and hints posted in this thread. I could run included "update.cmd" with no problem...but every time I attempted to run the "run.cmd" I got a "vcruntime140.dll" error and the web page to download and monitor the ESD files never opened. Finally, about midnight, I finally solved the problem...downloaded the "vc_redist.x86.exe" and "vc_redist.x64.exe" packages from Microsoft, installed both versions, and voila -- problem solved!

Now, executing the "run" cmd in administrator mode, opens the Mini-server web page, where I can choose which language and edition I want, click "download", and watch with joy as a monitoring web page opens up and I can watch the files download to my PC at 120Mbps...which beats hell out of the speed I get from Windows Update.

I'm so happy having figured this sucker out (with many thanks to other forum members who have experimented with this) and have successfully created six different (but identical) Windows Insider Preview version 17040 ISOs for the many computers here at home. It's been a good day.....finally!!

I grabbed the UUP-dump miniserver to check it out. Put it on my secondary SSD, and then fired it up exactly as it said (first run, I user update.cmd, then when htat completed I selected run.cmd).

I shunted the resulting PHP file over to IE (since I use it for nothing else)m then proceeded to select the following options:

Latest build --> Enabled checkmark for Use skip ahead ... then clicked Fetch Updates --> Next --> All Languages --> All Editions --> Download using aria2 (everything else I left at default values, for the first run).

I then went out with some friends. When I came back, I had a lot of files, but as I scrolled the PHP page, I saw the bottom section with the Checksums for each and every file. I copied it all, and created a new file in hte download directory called check.sha1, and then pasted the contents into it.

I then used the utility GitHub - gurnec/HashCheck: HashCheck Shell Extension for Windows with added SHA2, SHA3, and multithreading; originally from code.kliu.org which I invoked by simply double clicking the check.sha1 file I had just created - and book - it checked all 874 files. Good thing, too, beause 1 single file was unreadable, and I had to download it again.

    Now to build the .ISO.

The third time I got BSOD/GSOD at "installing: 96%" before restart.

Anyone experienced this or has a fix?

The system running well here. Store apps and win32 programs all run well. Just a minor problem with some blank program tiles and drive tiles that have titles but no icon. Not all, but just a few. This happens after a bit of use. Reboot fixes them, but then the problem repeats. Stranger is that it doesn't happen to the same tiles. Upvoted a post about it in the Hub.
