I think it's related to AMD graphics as I have an Intel processor and I always receive AMD 64 bit updates

It's in reference to the Windows side-by-side processing, WinSxS. If you look in that directory C:\Windows\WinSxS, you will see tons of folders beginning with "amd64". It's normal.

Hi,
AMD invented the first 64 bit CPu so MS has to use AMD64 for legal purposes.Or am I reading that wrong and amd64 means something else?
Cheers,
"AMD64" refers to the 64-bit evolution of the x86 architecture which is now standard in the market. Basically, Intel promoted the incompatible IA-64 (aka Itanium) in partnership with HP, but for various reasons it didn't work out in the marketplace. (Originally it was designed as a server architecture and there was very little software written for it.)
AMD developed its own evolutionary and backwards-compatible 64-bit architecture, working closely with Microsoft. It was known as AMD64. Eventually Intel realized it had lost and caved in, producing its EM64T implementation of the same thing.
Intel and AMD later entered into a cross-licensing agreement (in part due to Intel's shady rebate deals effectively excluding AMD from the marketplace), and so there is a lot of commonality, although still fierce competition about the creation and adoption of extensions, and their adoption within the market (which Intel has mostly won, consider SSE/AVX vs. 3DNow!).
Taking a step back, this indicates is that there are also versions of this update package for other architectures, which has always been the case (including the original x86, Itanium, Power, and ARM chips used mostly in tablets).

Installed fairly quick here too :)
Disaster struck, after this painfully slow update and a restart all looked ok. Until the download of the Fall Creators Edition suddenly started. WHICH I BLOCKED in settings, I am at the business branch!!!! Triple checked it after the download started, couldn’t believe my eyes. I have no idea what to do now, I am more or less in panic because I was working on a project that has to be finished. I HATE this shabby update mechanism of Win 10, I just hate it.
*UPDATE * just lost another system to the very same effect. I am extremely angry right now. Also n both affected system some msterious update KB 4049011 is installed. It’s totally out of control here. Just lost both of my production system on business branch.

It means that this update actually broke the update settings. That would be a blunder.
