I wonder why at this point that XP is inching upwards? It seems those that were destined to stick with it, have already done so. Hard to interpret the sudden rise.
Here is NetMarketShare's info for last month:
- W7 down (~0.6%)
- XP up (~0.8%)

Agreed.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe there are a lot of XP installs (real and/or virtual) that are only occasionally connected to the Internet.
However I'm not sure why they'd be connected one month and not the next.
There were some updates for:
- XP earlier this year, but I haven't heard of any recently
- Earlier versions of Office, so maybe those machines were turned on to get those
I occasionally connect my XP machines (real and virtual) to get software updates (especially AV).
