    @Kari

    ...hmmm...I will reboot my computer, disable Defender, move my scratch and Image folder to C and remove all checks from command.

    Let's see if it makes a difference.

    Host AV has (shouldn't have) any effect in DISM image capture on VM.

    I was using the host for capturing the image from my Virtual Disk

    Something funny going on with your PC. DISM command shouldn't cause BSOD / GSOD, can't find any relevant information on the net.

    There sure is something strange. Didn't think one could get a BSOD in install mode. This is on the old Acer. Legacy BIOS / Intel duo core / Spinner 7,200RPM / 2GB mem.

    I'm doing a image restore on it now. It's so slow it does it in tenths of a percentage. .1 .3 .5 .8 whole number. LOL!

    I'll do one on my Asus here shortly. I know that's more of modern that you want.

    Now it took 3 minutes and 7 seconds. My system must have been online for too long. Hahhah!

    With /CheckIntergry and /Verify enabled it took 4 minutes 35 seconds. (Note that I disabled Defender for DISM.exe process on both runs)

    9 minutes on my Asus tower listed in my specs. I'll try on my Acer again.

    What processor you have on that tower? HDD or SSD? Used space of C: drive?

    @Cliff S has a monster machine, we just tested it in Skype chat Cliff sharing his desktop, managed to capture his Hyper-V installation (over 40 GB) in 17:30 (thanks Cliff!).
