Fastest update yet for me, just under 90 mins. Have I missed something as when logging in first time I didn't get the 'HI we're setting up a few things' screen?

In Donna's post re Volsnap she also mentioned that
It occurs when system restore is active, try turning Off and deleting any restore points.

This may explain why I've never had the volsnap issue - I've had system restore turned off since forever.

The other suggestions is to copy from one of your 'successfully installed' machines the volsnap.sys file and paste it to the machine giving you problems. The directory to find is windows/system32/drivers/volsnap.sys. On your 'donor' machine you need to take control (see Brink's tutorial for this) of the file, and same for the 'recipient' machine. You can do this while the machine is still in 17017. Also note that the recommendation of Microsoft is turn off 'restore points' My issue was USB drives that were plugged in. When I unplugged them, the install took place, but replacing the USB drives caused a BSOD pointing to volsnap.sys. After I replaced the volsnap.sys with one from working directory, the problem went away. Now, I don't have this problem in 17025. Good luck.
Looks like turning OFF Restore Points on C:\ did the trick, although also did Disk Clean-up in same process.
Thank-you for helping early-on! Gave me impetus to keep trying.

@ 24c .... Good to see your comment re. Restore Points, as was wondering about turning back ON after this Update fix. Have really never used successfully and will leave OFF pending contrary advice.

I got this weird startup program after updating

    Attachment 160245

Scanned with MBAM & Defender & ADWcleaner and got nothing. It's placed in a hidden folder in C:\. Any idea what this might be?

You ever been to this site and done anything? Appears to be a random logon generator page, or something.

Well. the other computer with 17017 updated too after a scare when it wouldn't continue to finish installation until USB with 17025 was in. No problem with right click menu like on this one.

Do you mean right click on the Start Flag?

You know, after I read your post I acknowledge I’ve never been successful with system restore, so never turn it on. Low and behold I found it turned on on this latest build! I turned it off.

It is on my "to do" list after a new install - it does get turned back on during some upgrades.
