I don't have that, Store opens normally. What I have found is that the upgrade has turned back on the 'Update apps automatically' setting.
Yeah, that’s annoying it doesn’t respect your previous setting. Same with system restore, that gets turned off with every feature update.

i really don’t like the idea of apps updating automatically. On any OS. What if I shutdown the computer half way through an update. Or try to open an app whilst it’s updating. Given how fragile the native apps are this is something to avoid. Although I think the setting doesn’t work well. Whilst it won’t check for app updates without actually going into the store and clicking check for updates it still just goes ahead and installs them when one does click it and updates are found. This has been the behaviour across our machines since the April creators and now the fall one. On anniversary it worked much better. One would click check for the updates and when it found them you’d still have to click on it to actually download and install them. So the user had a chance to decide if they wanted the update or not (sometimes I’d like to be notified but have opportunity to then investigate online if it’s a safe one, the last thing would want is a store update that got pushed but was buggy and knowing it could of been avoided)

I can understand why MS turns off System Restore. It has let me down more times than I can count. I gave up on it and will rely on Macrium Reflect to bail me out of a crisis. Macrium has never let me down.

Yes, the mileage on system restore is variable from system to system. I’ve seen it let users down but from a personal perspective it has helped a few times so I just get frustrated that MS never retain the setting. Luckily I remember to switch it back on immediately but my memory isn’t as sharp as it once was and I get worried I’ll forget at some point. Mostly it’s those infernal native apps updating, I’ve had problems in the past where a native app updated on my user account just fine but with problems as a result on other family user accounts and then once when I tried a power shell thing to fix a native app which resulted in a right old mess. Both times system restore got things back to normality. However I have to agree that macrium is the best safety net, I should image more regularly. It’s just not as simple as creating a quick restore point.

@Scottyboy99 System Restore has saved me many times. It has been letting me down more than it has helped me lately. It's very discouraging when System Restore tells you that it was unable to do a restore.

I also am annoyed that system restore is set off. It can be very useful for some quirky problems. And, if it isn't, what have I lost?

I also have up to date MR images but I support a few other people and now I know they won't have restore on and I know they don't have images to fall back on either.

Totally agree. I do concur with the fact system restore is a volatile and unreliable thing. But it can help. And the less aware user will not be clued up on imaging and the like. And to be honest I think that makes up 99% of the user base. If system restore offers even the slightest hope of rescuing a system then it should be on by default. I know a system can be clean installed in the event of something going awry but it’s a totally unpalatable concept for many who have tough busy lives even if they had the forefront to maybe make cloud backups or put stuff on external hard drives. I know about imaging but don’t get much time myself so don’t really do it, moments on the pc are snatched so I don’t have time to image regularly. Therefore system restore becomes important even though I know I’m not fully hedging my bets

I have switched of system restore, as it just craps out too often these days. I invested in the paid version of Macrium Reflect and make daily incremental backups.

I can restore to any point very reliably, and best part is with Rapid Delta Restore, it typically takes less than five minutes.
