Thanks for info on the new schedule. Will have to decide whether I want to do two clean install/system setups in the space of four months. I've heard some good things about version 1709 and reinstall's are pretty straight forward these days so I will probably proceed to see what's new..

As the upgrade process is much more advanced these days, this is now a valid option - the best way will always be a fresh install but with the new schedule I believe we will see users upgrading in place most releases and clean installing every two or three years ( the older release schedule) or when they see an issue with an in place upgrade

If it were me, Kol, I'd go for a clean install each time the new version is released. That way, you get rid of all the detritus gathered in the current release; thus, a nice clean start.

I have a dual boot system . . . even my Insider Program partition gets a clean install a couple or three times during testing. The RTM partition gets a clean install with every new release.

I use to do a occasional clean install just to start out fresh. Now I only clean install when necessary. Such as when my computer has a problem that I can't fix or I'm going to give one of my old computers to a family member. It usually takes me days to install all my programs and setup the computer the way I want it. I also have some programs installed that were offered for free that I can't reinstall again.

As for timing of the release of the next version, I actually got 1709 a few days into the first week of October, speculation was that it was because of the weekend. As has been mentioned on various sites/media, other areas or regions will get the download at various times and seems to be part of the server capacities to handle Internet connections/bandwidth.

Arghh, I thought there was easier way to stop Microsoft drivers automatically installing though Windows Update in the Fall Creators? Cleaned installed today and WU insisted on installing an Nvidia driver and a Creative driver for my Sound Blaster X AE-5.

I finally got the Creators Update a couple of weeks ago, so far everything is working very smooth for me, no issues at all.

Same for me - I've now installed the FCU on three modern PCs and two 2006 vintage PCs without problems. The main irritating issue has been MS's stupid decision to remove user selectable font sizes requiring users who know about them to run the font configuration files on this forum e.g. Post 2 at Advanced sizing of text ... gone with Creators Update ?!
