It's basically a Contacts List, all dressed up and pretty. The amount of data up/down daily is dependent on how many contacts you have, and how active you and they are together. So it can vary from almost nothing, to a whole bunch.
Also, there is no "uninstall" option on the tile, meaning it's tied to the hip with Cortana and other internals...so caution nailing it somehow. Might break something.
Took my laptop to a friends house to "borrow" his Internet data and upgraded today to FCU. Took 90 minutes to download and just over an hour to install, including me checking for updates.
So far so good, I don't really see much of a difference from CU apart from the settings having a couple of added extras and that people hub on the taskbar.
I did attempt to link my phone (android) to my machine but so far no text or link has been sent to my phone.
Did the setup.exe upgrade from the mounted ISO. Did the keep personal files and programs option. My Windows 7 games for Windows 10 were uninstalled. Really? On the plus side I was able to just reinstall them. Last time this happened they wouldn't install, coincidence?
@Bree: guess what...I just spent the whole day reformatting to the original hp image on my computer (running 1511 wil do update tomorrow to Fall Creators Edition) and it doesn't seem to be a problem on here with my apps getting blocked from installing...
Now I get a reply from someone at Microsoft (had posted the issue to their help forum) and this is what he said:
Hi Craig,
There's a possibility that the SmartScreen option is on that's why you're unable to install downloaded apps. Let's try to turn it off and see if it helps. See the steps below:
Open Windows Defender Security Center from your Start menu, desktop, or taskbar.
Click on the App and browser control button on the left side of the window.
Click on Off in the Check apps and files section.
Let us know if that helps.
Bree: now that I am off my clean install, I was wondering if that is set on by default in defender when you upgrade to the Fall Creators Edition...or if anyone else knows...I am curious...
As I said on your thread about this problem...
Now that machine has a set of system images, so after tests like yours I put it back to square one, a machine that's been upgraded to 1709 but nothing fiddled with yet (I also have images for all previous versions, should I need to test something in those). The default for that setting is 'Warn' - and it didn't even do that (it says SmartScreen only acts on unrecognised apps, presumably VLC is a known app).
No, I think you had deeper problems than that. It was probably SmartScreen related - but a SmartScreen that wasn't working correctly, not just a setting issue.
