    San Martino,

See if one or more of these have an impact on the start menu:

    1) open administrative powershell and copy and paste this command to re-register the start menu:

    Get-appxpackage -all *shellexperience* -packagetype bundle |% {add-appxpackage -register -disabledevelopmentmode ($_.installlocation + “\appxmetadata\appxbundlemanifest.xml”)}

    reboot > check start menu

[How To] Re-register Start Menu In Windows 10

    2) Run through this start menu troubleshooter:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...t-menu-cortana

    3) Open administrative command prompt and type
    1) net user test /add
    2) shutdown /r
    3) sign on with the new user named test and evaluate the start menu
    Thanks for the suggestions zbook!

1 & 2 didn't work and I had neglected to indicate I had already tried 3. I really think the problem is the message I get when I try to change permissions for the Windowsapps folder This access control entry is corrupt. Delete and create a new one
It looks simple. Windows is telling me what to do. But I have no idea where the access control entry is located.

A bit more info, I can now access the Windowsapps folder through a convoluted method. In Explorer if I do a search from C: Programs - Windowsapps I get nothing. If I search from C: Programs I am in and have full access to the contents. I was able delete Candy Crush, which I never use. I can also delete apps from All Settings - Apps.

I think I will continue to explore finding where the access control entry for the Winapps folder is located.

I now have the Win 10 Fall Creator Update on 3 Office Systems (goin on 4). On my Dell Inspiron I am now getting for the first time, a Touch Keyboard appearing on the desk top at boot. Is any one else seeing this or did I miss it viewing these posts?

Did the upgrade on my laptop and all was well until I found it had deleted the 'Freecell' game. The ironic thing is that it's a Microsoft game downloaded from the store. Fortunately I still had the download exe and was able to re-install it. Thank you MS for saying nothing would be affected...

This happened to me too, on a non-touch-screen Inspiron 15/3000 laptop running 64-bit Pro. The touch keyboard appears about 20 seconds after boot and disappears for good when I hit any key on the physical keyboard. I checked all the options I could think of, nothing changed its behavior. Since it doesn't have a touch screen, I just disabled the Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service, and that took care of it, at least until I can figure out something else to try. Everything else is working just fine.

After watching some of the problems posted in this thread this week I was hesitant in upgrading both of my machines. This morning I decided to upgrade my LAPTOP. I decided to try the "Windows Update Assistant" Worked really well. Update took 1 hour and 30 min before it finished. Every app that I tried for the last 2 hours works. That includes Legacy and Modern apps. You can see this machines specs in my SYSTEM INFO link.

There is only a couple of things that need a look see. Brink needs to add an additional tutorial removing the 3D folder that now exists in the "This PC" section of file explorer for those that want to get rid of it - That's ME ! and I can't find a way to remove the PEOPLES app from the TASK BAR and the App itself will not allow you to uninstall it !

Other than that, right now FCU works ok.

Needed to add that I did the same upgrade to the desktop this morning, took 44 minutes and everything seems to be working.

windows shell experience keeps "stop responding" is there any other fix besides re registering the package.
it will malfunction with certain plug and play faults or applying user created shortcuts i.e. shutdown and restart for instance. If external USB devices are removed and the shortcuts as mentioned here are not used then everything appears ok.

The people app is a core app. Deleting such apps can break Windows.

There are several ways to do that, for example I used Winaero Tweaker:
