Windows Update offered me 1709 update which I allowed it to do. Went back to the active PC a few hours later and after a while my screen went black for 15 minutes. I crashed out and re-started. WU said I needed to re-start to finalise 1709. I've re-started a couple of times and WU says the same thing and I'm still on 1703. I'm now running the Fall Creators install again from the MS website and we'll see what happens. Be warned that this update appears to have problems.

Yesterday, I was able to get ISO's from Download Windows 10 using emulation in Edge and user agent switcher in Chrome. Now, I get the following. It happens on three different PC's (Win 7 and two Win 10's):

    Error

Install went without a hitch (Windows update) although it took a very long time approx 4-5 hours. Computer performance is far more snappy, smooth and responsive. Either way I'm a happy bunny.

I think those having issues, run disk cleanup to clear out some junk and temporary files then perhaps try the 'SFC/scannow' and/or 'DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth' (spaces included) commands in an elevated command prompt to check the integrity of and repair your current Windows installation before proceeding.

The current MCT version is 16299.15.

Windows 10 will update to 16299.19 afterwards though.

I had similar network problems with very slow transfers, even with Outlook 2016 getting my e-mail. I looked at my network devices and I uninstalled those I was not using and maybe that resolved my problems because today everything is running very smoothly. I just did a speed test on my network and got 160 Mbps download and 161 Mbps upload, so that make me happy.

I also noticed that after the update I was seeing applications that I had totally forgotten about because I disabled their start-up in the task manager. I guess this update enabled them again.

Also quite a few of my programs needed updates and reboots after the Windows 1709 update.

    Very important stuff.

Don't forget to update your manufactures drivers to the latest version with this update. all kinds of driver things get missing with the FCU and Microsoft may have replaced important drivers with generic ones.

Well, I turned on 'protected folder access' (the one that protects from 'unauthorised changed' (sic)) and then I found I couldn't empty my Recycle Bin until I added Explorer.exe as an 'allowed app'....
I am having the same issue. I have just turned on "Controlled Folder Access" in Virus & Threat Protection settings an hour or so ago and now, I am having all sorts of notifications for apps that have been blocked. They are mostly from Microsoft, like notepad.exe, explorer. exe and a process called bcastdvr.exe (no idea about this one). Isn't this protection supposed to deal only with unfamiliar third-party apps?.
