Hi, all. Long time no chat.

Well, it's installed, over a new fresh install of 1703, which I wasn't happy with as so many legacy features were deprecated (like, where the hell is msconfig, or its alternative, for example?).

I'll see how this goes, and may also try it as an upgrade over my pre-1703 system backup, or my 8.1.1 backup (and yes, I still think 8.1.1 was, in many ways, a better OS).

    We shall see...

    Wenda.
What are you talkng about. You just press win+r and enter msconfig as always.

Msconfig is not a deprecated feature.

You can also just click start and type either msconfig or system configuration and it will pull up.

    OK, thanks. I'll try that.

Just that my usual ways of accessing it had failed.

    All good.

EDIT: No, that's not what I wanted. I want the OLD msconfig - quarter-screen, lots of options.

Windows Photo Viewer is gone, and the replacement is rubbish. Had to install Live Essentials to get a decent photo viewer. Picasa doesn't work properly.

Webcam drivers - what are they? Found A driver - and they wanted me to PAY for it. Not happening.

PLUS SIDE: The upgrade/update was a piece of cake. Set it running then p*ssed off to work. Got home and it was done. All settings and prefs appear to have been saved. Had to re-install K-Lite - now works fine. All other installed programs appear to be working fine.

Still takes 2 minutes+ to boot. Yes, my C: drive is big but slow - still...

    So far - 7/10.

    FYI

As we live in an "I want it NOW!!!" society the roll out of the FCU, ( Fall Creators Update), Is placing a lot of strain on the available servers at Microsoft and their Partners, which is why Microsoft have decided ( as they have will all major updates recently], to apply a Staggered roll out policy under Windows Update.

Those of you with multiple devices may want to turn on Delivery Optimisation ( found in the Update Advanced options) and set it to pick up updates from your local LAN as well as the Microsoft servers, this will mean that when possible a system will update from another of your systems on the LAN and not have to contact the overloaded servers.

Once the update is over you can switch this off, or leave it on to speed up general future Windows Update Delivery, and also reduce internet bandwidth usage ( and Possible costs )

    Oh, well.
System Configuration (msconfig) has been the same since Vista, and remains the same in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. This is msconfig.exe:
