Hey, I just upgraded a 13 year old PC from Win 7 to Win 10 Pro FCU just by running setup.exe from a USB stick. See Windows 10 on 2004 PC?

Perhaps many incompatibility concerns are unfounded?

    hi guys
I have recently updated my Hp laptop from anniversary update to fall creators update by update assistant. Now I have a strange problem. When I turn on the laptop after a few hours being off, the system power ups but after 2 or 3 seconds it powers off. The second time that I turn on the system, it runs normally and boots well. What is the problem? can anyone help me? I didn't have this problem before fall creators update. Any help would be appreciated.

The only way of knowing for sure is trying it. Ironically, it can sometimes be easier upgrading really old pcs as the hardware was simpler, and the generic windows 10 drivers will often work fine.

One issue is that Windows 10 does require more RAM to operate efficiently, so if PC has 2GB or less and a slow hard drive, performance can be sluggish, even beyond what one would expect for an old device. This can be partly alleviated by adding an ssd. Also upgrading to 4GB is a good idea if possible.

Yes, maybe the simple 2004 PC hardware was in fact an easy upgrade. The old PC chugs along in Windows 10 - but I'm buying a basic SSD for 40 (which I can reuse) and found 4GB PC3200 RAM for under 20. For an outlay of c. 65 (win 7 licence 5 + SSD 40 + RAM 20), I now have a reasonable backup PC running Windows 10 Pro FCU.

Hi there. Do you continue to have this problem or did it work itself out? If not, it may be a UEFI boot order problem.

Not sure, but I'd say it's a UEFI BIOS problem. May not be finding the boot drive right away. Go into BIOS and set as default first. The instructions are in the link below. Scroll down on that page.

    Back things up first.

If not that, try other solutions on that page.

Does anyone know the size of the ISO? Will a 4GB USB be enough?
