I haven't checked with Itel as my machines use the Infineon ones but you should check as a TPM BIOS update should be available soon.

    Cheers,

I wonder if MSI will update my old z77a-g45 mainboard then as i have a tpm 1.2 from infineon

If they're not an Infineon partner then Infineon will. Check on Infineon's site, there's a tool that can tell what firmwares are at risk and so on. It may take a few weeks though. In the mean time, to err on the safe side, you can switch the module off.
They also mention to back up the encryption keys but, frankly, I have no clue how to do that...

    Cheers,

I had to put it on myself also and I totally agree with your saying: "It would be great if we could just click on allow program instead of searching for the programs exe", but the way I deal with the problem now is to temporarily disable Controlled folder Access whenever I am about to do something the latter can interfere with, like downloading an app, system image backup, creating a rescue media and so on...Thereafter, I will put it back on.

Moreover, I am getting less and less notifications from Controlled folder access since I have already white-list lots of the good apps. That is comparing to the very beginning after toggling it on where things were going haywire, as I have already mentioned in one of my previous posts. Here is hoping that things will get better in the foreseeable future, because I really like this new protection from Microsoft..

Two days of tedious work, but now it's performing better than ever.
Application movers are flakey at the best of times, and can create more chaos than they solve.

I have used Easeus PCTrans (free version) which allows only two apps to be transferred, with a modicum of success.

I recommend you only transfer apps that cannot easily be reinstalled e.g. apps is obsolete, or you got a one user licence e.g. sometimes companies allow you to update a free version to a pro version for a limited period and give you an activation licence that only works to activate for a short period (this usually happens just before bring out a new version, in hope you will buy new version).

The official launch of Fall Creators Update was at 10am Pacific Time, 17th October. The Media Creation Tool from Microsoft´s site was updated at that time. I know because I was waiting and watching, I downloaded it immediately it was available, as did many others in this thread.
I just downloaded the updated Media Creation Tool and it has build 16299.15. I saved the ISO and will use it to update my 3 systems.

This reads the install.esd and lists info about all the editions it contains. If it can read that there's little chance of it being corrupt.
Thanks a lot! Pretty useful information!

I've run it on my ISO and it read all the editions

You can open ESD and Wimfiles with 7-Zip, which will report errors in file structure and will not open corrupt Image files, and can open the descriptor [1].xml file in an xml reader of your choice, or Internet Explorer by Windows default.
