Mine automatically downloaded and installed overnight. (My WUs usually arrive 4 or 5 days after everyone else!)

Said 'restart to complete'. Worst disaster of my PC life. My PC is unusable - BSOD with error code 0xc0000225 and no obvious route to uninstalling it. Eventually found Option 5 on F8 Start-Up Settings, then hit F5 Enable Safe Mode with Networking. That should have enabled me to go to my Settings>Updates>Update History and select Uninstall Updates. But it doesn't - it shows the HP logo and does nothing else.

I know that I shouldn't cross-post and I know where I'll start next time but I have a major problem with an unusable laptop. I found this morning that the Macrium Free that I ran late last night failed so I have my 1st October Macrium plus my File History and yesterday's saved files on a USB that I can plug into this cheap laptop that I bought as my standby.

So I hope that someone will take pity and see if they can find the answer.

Update successfully bricked my laptop... Now shows 'No OS installed'
Same thing here -- and I did two updates, one using a USB stick created using the MCT and a second by mounting the ISO file created by the MCT.

In my case (which is probably the same as yours), I rebooted using a Minitool Partition Wizard USB and determined that the former Win10 OS partition was now UNFORMATTED.

This mystifies me because I was not aware that the FCU involved any partition reformatting -- and (AFAIK) should NOT have because (1) I have a System Reserved partition of 500MB (large enough for Win10), and my OS partition has over 30GB of free space on it.

One person here posted some hidden logs to check -- but, of course, I can NOT check those because the former OS partition is unformatted after the crashed Update.

Is your laptop also an HP?

For all HP computers that had failed upgrades it is important to check the hidden Panther logs.

    Setupmem.dmp [$Windows.~bt\Sources\Rollback\setupmem.dmp] [$Windows.~bt\Sources\Rollback\setupapi\]

When you locate the logs create a new thread and post one drive or drop box share links for troubleshooting.
Thanks for the advice -- but my HP laptop is left with the primary OS partition being UNFORMATTED.

I even tried using a bootable partition recovery tool to see if I could restore the partition to at least try to find those logs, but the tool could not find the original OS partition.

I had to restore from image backup to get a working laptop back.

OP stated he does not want to retain anything. In this case, OP should delete all partitions first.
Apologies on the post. The OP has conflicting intentions posted, and I didn't clearly see the "clean" part, since he was talking about indication not to keep data, files, apps, etc. Those are conflicting with a clean install....they are choices for in-place upgrade. I simply got a little confused and didn't see the clean part....focused on the "what to keep" part. My mistake. Sorry.

FCU failed on the old Acer. Done messing with it. Performing an in-house from a UUPtoISO just to see how it goes.
LOL! I end up with Version 1703 build 15063.674 using this?

Yes. Made it on my Asus tower after upgrading yesterday.

I didn't check "Install updates now" for I didn't think I needed to using the ISO or do I?

    @Not Myself

It's on the US page when i just checked from the UK

    This is a direct link

to the upgrade which may work if you cannot see the offer but I can't guarantee that - cut and paste as it's not our policy to post direct links
Well, it is, sort of: For reason(s) unknown and unknowable, until a moment ago, I did not think to try the site using Edge instead of Firefox, whereupon I saw the offer to obtain Fall Creators. I have no idea what is blocking it in Fx,. As it happens, thanks to your kind providing the direct link to the updater, which I saw shortly after you posted it, the update is now at 93% complete.

I hope that, when it is ready to restart the computer, that will go well. I then face a bit of a quandary: Both the September and October, 2017, monthly cumulative updates failed on my wife's computer. The first time, it took me some time to find that I had to disable MalwareBytes Antimalware Version 3.x Professional to get the the update to install. I posted on the MalwareBytes forum, after a search found nothing about this. I got a reply that they were not aware of such a problem, and asked me to download and run two programs that create some Windows-related files. I did that and uploaded them; having received no reply, I need to post in my thread an inquiry as to any progress.

I wonder what will happen if I try to run the updater file on her computer with Malwarebytes running. This month, the failure occurred at 3%, meaning it did not take much time for that to take place. I had to ponder what I had done the preceding month to get the update to work, and eventually recalled that it was Malwarebytes that was the culprit, so I exited it and successfully ran the update.

Now waiting for a change to at least 94%.

A few hours later, Fall Creators has been installed on my computer. I've not done much, so the only thing I've seen that I need to do is to download and run the Win10 forum registry hack to get rid of the useless-to-me arrows on the desktop icons. Classic Start Menu 4.3.0 reconfigured itself without my having to do anything other than to close the popup that informed me that the process was successful.

Given how long the Windows update took, I'm not going to do anything about this on my wife's computer until tomorrow, as she may need to use her machine when she gets home in a few hours.

Well, I turned on 'protected folder access' (the one that protects from 'unauthorised changed' (sic)) and then I found I couldn't empty my Recycle Bin until I added Explorer.exe as an 'allowed app'....
