Upgraded 5 computers to the FCU—3 downloaded from Wu and two using mct. MCT is faster but all worked well _ no problems encountered.

If you use the MCT's option to 'make media for another PC' you can choose to make an ISO (or USB) for 32-bit, 64-bit, or both. The media includes the Home, Pro, Education, S and Home single language editions so can be used to upgrade any of them.
Ok. I was hoping to skip all that if someone have an ISO to share... haha... I guess I have to do it the way it should be done. The thing is, the servers are hot and slow right now and it somehow takes forever.
I finished 1 machine and the download took a while. I created an ISO from it and used it to upgrade the other 2 machines.

Yeah we are having big problems with one of ours. One machine all ok, got through Microsoft’s latest round of roulette in about an hour. But another machine has been at it all night, several stabs at it. Keeps downloading, the preparing and at the end of 100% just finishes and offers nothing, no restart option to finish or it goes back to starting preparing again, which of course takes ages. There were also a couple of other messages on some attempts. One with error code and said retry, one said it couldn’t be installed because windows was busy installing other updates and to retry. The frustrating thing is retry puts right back at the beginning which is then another lengthy cycle of download and preparing!

and just now it happens again grrrrr! Reached the end of preparing and then suddenly changes back to downloading updates and starts again from 0%

its getting late now in UK , I am wondering whether to just leave it on overnight and see if it snaps itself out of this horrible cycle and actually installs the thing. Frustrated that these things have the potential to steal away precious evening time battling the process
Leaving overnight was the key. I got up super early to check on things and it was waiting for a restart to install. All good. I noted on some user accounts app tiles in some start menu were missing but soon tweaked things back to where they were

Installing updates went quickly but downloading was slow, I was stuck at 93% for half an hour at least. A couple of application installations and a good 30 driver installations were added to the mix after the update.

The only issue I have noticed is that the lock screen is just light blue with the date and time even though a picture (I believe it was default) is selected. No big deal, wish I could just get rid of the lock screen completely and go straight to the login screen.

    Everything else is 100% fine.

Aaaaaaand why would you remove the 3D Ojects folder? I doesn't do any harm, does it? :)

I'm actually pretty happy with this update. 3 machines so far and no problems at all other than a long 2 hours plus install time. Even my netbook that didn't have enough hard drive memory updated with no issues with a usb flash drive assist. All through WU.

It did re-enable suggestions in start and changed my "lockscreen" settings as well as changed a setting in DTS audio control - all easily readjusted back. All other settings as far as i can see were unaffected. The OS feels slightly faster to me. WD now launches on one click. There is a lot more info under performance in task manager. I like the currency converter added to calculator as well. I like the visual changes to notifications in action center.

Glad it went relatively smoothly. I was going to wait on the update after my experience with creators update 1 but when I saw it sitting there at 1pm in WU i figured what the hell.

Hi, all. Long time no chat.

Well, it's installed, over a new fresh install of 1703, which I wasn't happy with as so many legacy features were deprecated (like, where the hell is msconfig, or its alternative, for example?).

I'll see how this goes, and may also try it as an upgrade over my pre-1703 system backup, or my 8.1.1 backup (and yes, I still think 8.1.1 was, in many ways, a better OS).

The update itself was a piece of p*ss - took several aeons to download, but I ran it before I left for work this morning - got home around 1.30pm and it was done. No issues so far.

    We shall see...

Yeah, we all know that, but @lopedoggie said the new version of MCT was .19, so I asked, if he had not written that I would not have asked anything.
