Well, this didn't pan out. 16299,19 to 17017 is a no go on this PC. It doesn't even want to stay on Skippy but defaults to

I don't think Skippy exists anymore.

It does exist, but one can not officially join anymore. There exist a registry hack that might let you get back in.

My current build 17017.1000 is still on Skip Ahead and it will continue to be so until I exit. What will happen is that for now I will be receiving RS4 Fast Ring builds at same pace as other Fast Ringers who are not in Skip Ahead until MS start to develop RS5. At that point I will get RS5 builds while everybody on Normal Fast Ring will receive the final RS4 builds at a fast pace.

Tested now. A Hyper-V Vm created and installed W10 Enterprise 16299.15 on Tuesday:

No issues opting in to Skippy with registry edit:

    17017 started downloading immediately:

Did a clean install of 17017 and it worked without any problems. Not going to keep it now as I have it on other PC so I just restored 1299.19 and going to leave on slow for now until next build comes. May have better luck then.

It is unnecessary to do the skippy regedit to upgrade from 16299.19 to 17017.

I just tested in VM, by joining in Fast Ring, and searching for updates - as you can see it is downloading 17017.

That's because the fast ring and skippy have merged.

Yes - I know but a few posts back, people were asking would the skippy regedit still work. I was showing it was no longer needed for precisely your answer above.
