I'm back in 17004, have to skip 17017 due continuous GSOD caused by Cloud Files Mini Filter Driver cldflt.sys. (like clockwork a GSOD an hour after boot). Tested last night 17017 clean install, same thing, GSOD after an hour, and 17004 clean install directly upgraded to 17017.
17017 works well on virtual machines but not on this laptop.

    Yes.
Whatever I did, after upgrading or test clean install later, it was a GSOD 60 to 65 minutes after boot. Also when OneDrive was not set up.
I had 21 GSODs in 21 hours uptime, after which I gave up.
@Kari, you don't, by chance use keybase, do you? Because that could cause your problem as well.

No, I didn't click it, it depends on what happens if/when I do. I'm on 17004 right now, can't install 17017 but my other computer updated fine from 16299.15. I was thinking that dropping out of Insider would bring me to that version and after official update tomorrow to go back to Insider program which should start with at least 17017.
So if I click on Stop, what happens ?
I tried to get out of Insider on a system yesterday with Release Preview on it, and it wanted to do a Reset. It needs to have 16299.15 on it first, and then you can get out, I think.

Installing now. Thought as long as I'm in Asus box I may as well air-blow all 3 out. Dust mites didn't like it, but hey that's life.

Keybase? No, I'm not using it, at least knowingly as I have not a clue what it is.

And funny answer, questioning if updating goes the same way...

You clearly stated in your Tweet, that clean installing had the same issue (I'm reading this ... same issue as update).

I definitely think that Windows Defender doesn't like the UUP method of upgrading. My Power Spec Desktop and my Acer Laptop are both running Windows Defender and it takes them hours to download and install new builds. On my HP desktop I switched over to the Insider Ring so I could upgrade early. It took about 80 minutes to download, make the ISO, install and drop out of the Insider Program. The HP is running Eset Security Suite and the other 2 are running Windows Defender.

I forgot to mention that my Power Spec Desktop is in the first part of installing build 17017 (before the restart) and has been stuck at 67% installing for over 30 minutes. I did my Acer Laptop this morning and it was taking so long I just left it run and went and did some work around my house. The install also made my Acer laptop unusable. The HDD was pegged at 100% and the laptop kept freezing every time I tried to use it.

Hi badrobot, same problem, need a copy of 17017 ISO to avoid losing all my installed programs.
