Installed 17017 last night and all seemed fine. Turned off my desk side system as usual and this morning I can no longer reboot. I have been dual booting Win 7 Ultra on one SSD and Win 10 64 Pro Insider on a second SSD. At boot I can choose either operating system. Today it spins the start up icon 1/2 rotation and says "Page Fault in non page area Volsnap.sys." It also tries to repair and fails.

    Any idea for a fix?

Definitely just a case of drive errors. Common issue with dual booting machines.
I have that issue from time to time.
I just scan the drive for errors and repair it, Works most of the time.
Sometimes I just restore the system partitions (not the main OS partition) from Macrium image,
But if that still fails, I just restore everything from image.

Downloaded this morning. I have dual boot (separate SSD's) and the OS selection screen comes up like it did before, no problems.

I guess I'll have to reinstall 16299.15. Not what I wanted to do. Burning the DVD right now.

I restored an image from prior to problematic download from MS. Now I am downloading again to see if I can get a successful install. Good luck to you with your approach.

Set up a dual boot system and primary system failed so I restore from Macrium image to 16299.15. Download of 17017 started immediately with other downloads.

    Malicious removal tool.

Successful restart 30 minutes ago and all seems well with ability to boot Windows 10 and three versions of Linux.

Not successful -- still getting the same message with volsnap.sys being culprit causing pagefault in non-paged area
This is only on Skippy -- other computers updated without problem.

is insider version 16299.15 the rtm version or will 17017 be put forward?
The 17017 definitely won't be RTM - it's an early version of the next release, presumably sometime in 2018.

Whether 16299.15 is RTM is a different question - I suspect the ISOs will go out as 16299.15 with cumulative updates available at the same time to take it to 16299.19 or above, but that's still not certain.

I found that this occurred when I enabled system restore and then rebooted. Luckily, I created an image right before I did anything. With System Restore points disabled, it boots normally.
