    Dual boot Windows 10 FCU Pro x 64 & Insider 10 Pro

But, with 17017, one works and the other gives me the volsnap.sys error message with green or blue screen. After I honed in on the issue, I unplugged it, moved it to another computer which has 17017 installed also. As soon as I plugged it in, I booted with a green screen and my friend volsnap.sys error message. Since I also have FCU on the same machine, I booted into that drive, it booted and had no problem with this drive. So, something in 17017 doesn’t recognize this particular drive, driver or ???
So you got it down to one thumb drive. I'll assume it's a different brand than the other? My Scandisk Ultra and Cruiser Glide work, but my secondary Samsung 2TB spinner didn't.

If you would check cuz I don't have the original volsnap.sys file and one thing I thought of > Please check the version of a previous one vs the one that came with 17017. I'm thinking it's an updated version.

volsnap.sys is a driver that must be managing drives via their drivers, so I'm guessing not all drive drivers are compatible with the newer volsnap.sys.

Yet the FCU supports the drive, and all my thumb drives also. I have a date of 10/10/2017, the one installed with 17017. I tried all the others people suggested to no avail. But are these drives causing BSOD or GSOD when used? And, oh yes, they are both Western Digital drives

If you mean my thumbs, no. Just my spinner. That worked after I exchanged volsnap.sys with the old one.

I just remember that I have the original file on my Acer. I'm booting it up now and I have to boot to my Skippy on this machine.

Well, I checked both volsnap.sys files and they're both the same version, which is, of course, the same as the build number since it's a system file. The one on Skippy is dated from the previous build which was from the .old folder. The version number must update to the
current build, so not sure if they reworked it or not.

So I guess your only choices at this point is not to use your thumb or stay on a previous build.

What brand thumb is that that won't work, magilla?

Reread post 582. Actually not thumbdrives, but powered external USB 3.0 drives used for backups.
