Microsoft's workaround for the time being is to go into the system BIOS and disable UCSI prior to applying the update.
Really? I am not surprised that Windows is having trouble with USB. Ever since the launch of Windows 8.0, there has been USB issues all over the place. For some USB behave normally and others experience weird behavior.

I got the download Wednesday morning; it completed in 2 1/2 hours or so. Installation took 30 minutes and so far everything seems fine. I never received the update that came out around 9/25 but clearly that wasn't a problem.

I tried the MSU version and it didn't work. It just kept looking for updates all night, 7+ hours. But with the Creators Update coming on Tue I don't think it's needed.

Three Win10 PCs. Update downloaded OK on all three but only updated successfully on two.

On the third, it gets 100% through the update and then fails. Then it reboots and undoes the changes. But ... it keeps doing this over and over, and it provides no indication of WHY it keeps failing.

Also, downloaded this update from MS and ran it locally -- same result.

The PC went through this update/fail/restart/restore loop four times yesterday -- until I finally shut it down.

Another case for being able to disable individual updates.

I've been getting sudden reboots (three so far) - no BSOD, no minidump, no message, just instantaneous reboot while mousing or keyboarding in the browser (Opera). Only recent change was a Logitech MX Ergo trackball three days ago, but it did work for two days with no problem before the update.

Updated on my Desktop and when it went to the lock screen, it put the machine to sleep. NOTHING worked to wake it up. Eventually I killed it, restarted and got the "Windows failed to load properly" screen. Clicked on the restart button and all went well. Except now if the machine goes to sleep I can't wake it up. I'm still trying all I can find or think of.

Updated Gayle's laptop this morning without incident. Ran all the checks, scans and other updates for a good hour after it finished. Then when I went to shut it down I get the blue screen telling me "Windows is working. Do not turn off the computer" with the little spinning dots. That went on for over 20 minutes before it finally did shut down. Restarted and can't find any issues.

This update broke sleep timers for both blanking the screen and putting the machine to sleep. I can do it manually and sleep works normally, but it will no longer do it on a timer.

I uninstalled, which put me at 2017-7, then grabbed 2017-9 from the Windows Update site and applied the patch to bring my machine back to its last known working state.

Anyone else have a computer that won't sleep?
