With regards to updates seemingly getting stuck,..what I've noticed,..is that if you go to Task Manager and click on the Internet tab,..there is nothing being downloaded,..it's as if the connection to the Windows servers got broken which explains why it looks like it's stuck. Sometimes it takes ages to resume. Why does this happen? Would this be the Users end or Microsofts? I've noticed that this will also happen sporadically when updating apps from the Windows store.
I think it is WU determining what it needs to download. That is the essence of UUP it only downloads what is changed. The problem is it seems to take forever chewing up CPU & disk I/O to make that determination.

This sucks. if this is an indicator how the update will go next week I'm scared.. very scared.

I did download the MSU so I can run that and hope for the best I guess.

I've been through many updates and they all went just fine, ok, I couldn't use the pc for a little while but that's fine with me. I then watch a dvd in the meantime and keep an eye out for the percentage. But last time it went very fast! So I hope this time it goes equally fast....

If all else fails I can make use of the media creation tool and get the ISO and go from there.

I don't think it is actually stuck. If you look at task manager or better resource monitor you will see a lot of activity....
Yes, that's what I did for this (and previous) updates. The downloading appears 'stuck' because windows update is doing a lot of processing on what has already been downloaded. There's lots of CPU and disk activity, but nothing on the network.

Mine 'stuck' at 3% and 22% for a long time, but left to its own devices eventually completed the install without issue.

I updated last night. Took a hour, give or take. So far no issues. :)
