Anyone else having trouble opening Windows Update from the settingstab? Seeing dots moving from left to right and a blank white screen.

    GURRRRRR!!!!!!

    Attachment 157450
Not for this update, but I have already seen what you are witnessing..dots running from left to right. Sometimes, this can go on for 10-15 mn. You can try to run the updates troubleshooter if it takes longer than that.

One of my machines had exact same traumas as yours. Whole episode took nearly two hours start to finish but got there in the end.

Mine seems stuck at 22%. I will update two pcs at work today. Let's hope it will be faster there.

PS. Installing it now, alongside WMSRT for October.

In my VirtualBox VM it stuck at 3% then 18% and finally 66% before completing in about 2 hours. I've learned to be patient with a UUP update. It will get there in the end.

Mine got stuck on 3% for 50+ minutes and only started to climb when I started manually downloading the updates. I then let it continue with the WU program rather than using the manually downloaded file.

Why does it get stuck and what should I do?
I will be taking this W10 laptop in to PC world for them to put on Fall Creators update as I have a meltdown every Patch Tuesday as I have to do patches on a W8.1 laptop at the same time. (Am told my broadband can handle this)

I don't think it is actually stuck. If you look at task manager or better resource monitor you will see a lot of activity. I think it is the way UUP works where they have sacrificed CPU, I/O and speed for a reduction in the bandwidth needed to download the CU.

One of the quickest Cumulative updates ever for me considering my slow internet speeds. Around 30/40 minutes to download along with a Malicious Software Tool update. No Flash. Here's an odd one though, it got to 20% Download and then went straight to the message,.."Ready To Install Updates - Restart Now". I thought,.eh?? Anyway,..clicked Restart and everything went sweet. Now on the latest build of (1703) 15063.674. I can relax again until the next one which will probably be a clean install of Fall Creators.

With regards to updates seemingly getting stuck,..what I've noticed,..is that if you go to Task Manager and click on the Internet tab,..there is nothing being downloaded,..it's as if the connection to the Windows servers got broken which explains why it looks like it's stuck. Sometimes it takes ages to resume. Why does this happen? Would this be the Users end or Microsofts? I've noticed that this will also happen sporadically when updating apps from the Windows store.
