Sometimes it takes ages to resume. Why does this happen? Would this be the Users end or Microsofts? I've noticed that this will also happen sporadically when updating apps from the Windows store.
I think it is WU determining what it needs to download. That is the essence of UUP it only downloads what is changed. The problem is it seems to take forever chewing up CPU & disk I/O to make that determination.

I've been through many updates and they all went just fine, ok, I couldn't use the pc for a little while but that's fine with me. I then watch a dvd in the meantime and keep an eye out for the percentage. But last time it went very fast! So I hope this time it goes equally fast....

If all else fails I can make use of the media creation tool and get the ISO and go from there.

Yes, that's what I did for this (and previous) updates. The downloading appears 'stuck' because windows update is doing a lot of processing on what has already been downloaded. There's lots of CPU and disk activity, but nothing on the network.

Mine 'stuck' at 3% and 22% for a long time, but left to its own devices eventually completed the install without issue.

I updated last night. Took a hour, give or take. So far no issues.
