I think it's easier to simply download the ESD files directly from Microsoft servers and create the ISO, when the MCT is officially available on the page it will be worth using it.

A new MCT is issued simultaneously with each new version of W10. It is essential to download a new MCT after the 17th to make FCU media.

I have a collection of all the older MCTs, each one still makes media for the version is was released for. I recently made 1507 RTM (10240) media with my oldest MCT.

Yes, I know. But I can still make the media for them - I have all the old versions available to run on my support/test machine (System Two in My Computers below). I use it for investigating questions on these boards from users stuck on old versions.

Doesn't unlinking your MSA from your Insider account prevent further build updates? - I have a Fix Me button that errors out with an 0x80072ee2 code, whenever I tried to click it, and many Insider setting options do not appear.

On The Compaq Presario CQ57, I was stuck on the CU 15063 Pro, with no successful insider new builds since then, until I changed the following a few days ago and 16299.15 came down the line:
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability]

Most of the DWORD values were 0, now changed to 1, and ring backup was set at "WIF" too, so I set it as WIS, and the update started after a reboot.

On another PC, I downloaded the MCT ESD 16299.15 from the links given on MDL, and used DISM++ version of ESD to ISO to create the 9-image ISOs for x86 and x64.

    Here's a question:

The ISO label for Windows Setup disks, e.g. 16299.15.170928-1534.RS3_RELEASE_CLIENTPRO_OEMRET_X64FRE_EN-GB.ISO, - is this stored somewhere in the download from Windows Update, and if so where, or is it synthesised by concatenating information from lots of places within the downloaded files?

That is the MCT that makes media for the Anniversary Update (1607, os build 14393.0). You got it on 12th Sept. last year, almost certainly from Microsoft here: Download Windows 10. That's where you'll have to go after 17th to get a new one for the Fall Creators Update (1709, 16299), or go now if you want one for the Creators Update (1703, 15063).
