Oh Hello fellow Insiders. insiders I am testing dictation. It is a slow goal go. I think I need the a better Mike mic reverse or voice training or something. OL LOL!
I have tried it and it is really poor, especially with homonyms (words that sound the same) e.g. buy, bye, by or no, know etc. If you use Cortana, it is quite good at sorting homonyms by context of sentence. The dictation mode just chooses a word and moves on not doing any contextual check. Also, it does not even get words right even if not a homonym.

I dread to think what it would do with some of the local Aberdeen accents - LOL.

As I said in an earlier post "As JM wood saye, ewe khan knot bee serious".

I believe this is totally overstating the case. It would be insane to merge the two rings before actual release, as it would deprive Insiders of the opportunity to "get off the bus" i.e. leave the Programme.

I expect all that will happen is that those uwp apps that have been released to Skippy e.g. Photos with Remix, will now be available on 16299.15.

I have just left the Programme on my main rig JUST IN CASE MS do do something insane.

Thanks, Andre. I followed the links down to the first one. Who is MattZ ?? Is he somebody with semi-official MS knowledge or just the Admin of that Forum. He doesn't quote any source, so I'm wondering where he got what he's saying. Rich Woods from Neowin gave it a nice spin to add some "I read it on the Web, so it must be true" flavor.

I do not use hibernation but I turned it off.

The Fall Creators eliminates hibernation, just Sleep, Shut Down and Restart. You can turn Fast Startup on/off, your choice. On 1703 I had hibernation disabled because it caused wake issues..

The Option in settings, or the hiberfil.sys, or both?

I'm just hopin' that this major update goes as well as the other two (which were all upgrades, not clean installs). I'll clean install IF i need to but just crossing fingers, toes & whatever else can be crossed that it's not necessary.

Little late to your initial posts but the info you got is 100% correct. I'm not an Insider either. You can either use the DVD or run the setup.exe from it to Upgrade, as you did with prior major updates; NO need to clean install unless you want to. You can verify that you were not enrolled by clicking Settings/Update & Security/ Windows Insider Program and you'll see that you have to pro-actively enroll. I have already upgraded 4 computers in your proposed fashion with zero issues other than it took 2 hrs to install which is longer than previous new builds. However, the main laptop has never run this quietly with low CPU use and several issues before, like automatic Windows Update checking and slow file explorer sorting, were fixed. Go for it. You can always rollback within 10 days. Good Luck
