I got the exact same on resuming from sleep in the last few builds.

Try turning off hibernation with powercfg -h off. And turn it on again if you want.

After doing that it works for me. I don't think it is a coincidence this problem happens at the same time they decide to turn hibernation on irrespective of your previous settings.

30 worked very good for me en-gb but yes 31 out now

My old Acer laptop is also around 10 years old and started giving GSOD/BSODs with the FCU Insider Builds. It would do it at 75% during the version upgrade, but then would seem to work. However later on it would crash on shutdown/ hibernate.
It turned out that the Windows installer was grabbing a slightly older driver on the fax modem than the one I had, and using the newer* driver has hopefully fixed it.

* new is relative - they were probably both 10 years old but the one which was a few weeks newer seemed to make the difference.

Thanks, David. Everything in Device Manager is up to par. I have a Motorola modem with no events listed. It does show a "Standard floppy disk controller" when there is no floppy drive in this box. Never saw that in previous OSs that I can remember.

Looked through Events. None in hardware. GSODs/crashes really have no explanation in System events. Just that it "shutdown unexpectedly".

All in all, really no problems now after the system worked itself out after a few days. Other than boot-up thrashing it's running fine. I noticed a "Compatibility Manager" process and telemetry doing most of that at first. Must be an Insider thing. CU is much better on that of which there were no GSODs.
