Both test machines updating now (download and initial install phases occurred hands-off, trouble-free last night). Will report further should any issue manifest.
    Cheers!

I am still not convinced this is RTM!

This is what the release notes says:

UPDATE 10/2: We have released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16299.15 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. As we prepare to release the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update to the world on October 17th, we will now start testing out servicing this build with the Cumulative Updates via Windows Update.

    Finally finished with success. :)

you can now select release preview ring in insiders settings which would indicate that this is rtm. Windows 10 central says its rtm and theres no watermark
If you mean "Just fixes, apps, and drivers", then yes. A sure indication too is that there is no update history. At least on mine.

I wonder if Apple will write one. One would think they would. Not everyone can afford nor will some choose to pay $1k for an iPhone nor the prices of these: iPad - Compare Models - Apple

That's not to say that some of these OEM Windows devices are getting to be pricey too.

My guess is that 16299.{something} will be RTM.
But the {something} may be a number higher than 15

Doesn't evey cumulative update have a .xx higher than the last one? In this case, 16199.15 is current, so the next CU should be .15+?

Apple is completely derailing imho. Their new CAMERA'S that can make phone calls are way overhyped and -priced. I still have the iPhone 6 Plus, probably my last, but will hold on to it until the release of the X+1! iTunes is one of the worst Apple core macOS apps I have ever used since switching to Apple in 2008.

    Only time will tell...
