So, if I leave one device on skippy, it will be used again down the road where-ever the can is kicked? And current fast lane will continue to function as it has with current release builds... so much conjecture and speculation can be somewhat confusing ... or maybe I’ve reached the age where it is more difficult to ferret out reality from speculation! I would think that since 16299.15 is the RTM that any New builds in The Fast lane will be skippy. I installed 16299.15 and then dropped out of the program and MS let me keep it, so there will be no more 1703 builds.
According to this article, Timeline is in MS internal build version 17005.

The implementation of the feature is similar to the concepts Microsoft showed at Build 2017. You can access Timeline via the Task View button and there also seems to be a search option to look for your usage history of apps, though it's not yet clear how long Timeline's memory will be.
Gallo also promised that Windows Insiders will be able to test it out for themselves very soon. The demo in question was on Build 17005 and, to put this in context, the RTM build for the Fall Creators Update that most Insiders have installed now is numbered 16299.15. After the official launch of the update on October 17, Microsoft will likely make the difference in no time as the Skip Ahead ring of Insiders is already testing Build 17004.
There has already been an incorporated timeline history event recorder inbuilt in Edge for many past iterations.
It records to the minute what you were doing on any given day and will go back as far as you wish, as long as you don't clear browsing history.......To view click on Hub....then click on clock (History).
I read a lot of articles, and it seems you can wind back status of apps, which is like a live version of system restore points. Anyway how much of that articles was hype who knows. It is not a backup system to replace the predicated system image backup.

Not trying to stir the pot here, but isn't the Edge history the history of sites visited? And the Timeline thing a way to open previous apps/documents and such from previous sessions? I'm a little confused. Really just asking cause they look different to me.
You are absolutely right, I have been out of a working environment for so long (20 years) it never occurred that anything other than browsing was involved.....apologies to cereberus and yourself if I mislead.
Regarding Opening previous Apps and Documents and being able to add to or amend them could create serious security problems on highly sensitive information if hackers managed to gain access.
