MS planning, development, and coders are in teams. Never get behind the 8 ball first when planning a business strategy. Investors look at the future of a company to forecast profit for their returns, especially in the fast-moving tech industry. Therefore, MS created Skippy or rs_4 to start developing the future of Windows with a team way before rs_3 was finished. They've always done this. Now that rs_3 is RTM (or close enough) they will move coders over to rs_4.

Not sure with build numbers, but the next version will most likely be 18xx for the year 2018. Spring update?
Yeah a new lane with a layer of semi liquid tarmac so you can only drive at 5 mph.

That 18xxx would most likely be 2018 Fall and 2019 Spring build numbers. Now we should get 17xxx for 2018 Spring update, if MS stays with current build numbering conventions.

Ok so it's been a slow go with these. I keep busy with 16299 on my snail Acer. Just had a GSOD there. This is just too much OS for 2GBs of memory. Even my Lumia has more resources. LOL.

Hahhah! Mobiles are getting a lot of resources these days...64-bit 8-core SoC, 4-8GB RAM, 32-128GB Storage + support for 256GB+ memory cards with R/W speeds over 100MB/s and extremely fast LTE (almost GBit-class already), WiFi (150-450Mbit) and BT. And all that in a very small and power conserving package.

Yes, incredible miniaturization. Who'd of ever thought we'd get to this point? And we're really just scratching the surface.

I believe man was created to create. We can blame the Brits for creating all this insanity.
